▪ Drafting Committee: CEN/TC 52/WG 3 - Safety of toys -
Mechanical, physical and general properties
▪ Standardization request accepted: October 2022
▪ Deadline for adoption of new and revised standards: October 25, 2025
▪ This standard will supersede EN 71-1:2014 + A1:2018

▪ New definitions: single wheel, single-track ride-on toy, multi-track
ride-on toy, stabilizers, toy balance bike, toy chest etc.
▪ Delete definitions: maximum saddle height, plastic sheeting
▪ 4.7 / 4.8 / 4.9 / 4.10.4 / 4.14.1 Added an exemption for trampolines
covered by EN 71-14.
▪ Expanding materials: new one requirement - completely pass
through the new gauge. test method completely revised. material in
an expanded state shall be allowed to shrink first.

Changes:
▪ Protruding parts: turning back the end of a wire or by affixing a
protective cap or cover, Ends of tubes shall be equipped with end
plugs or other means of protection at the end of the tube.
▪ Updated and clarified the requirement with respect to ventilation,
particularly when multiple openings are used. A new test method for
assessing groups of openings was referenced. A new test method
for assessing the escape force was referenced.
